Christopher (“Chris”) Hunter has been fortunate to work for the same portfolio company owned by two different private equity (PE) firms over the past six years. The original PE firm was JFL Partners, an investment firm that focuses exclusively on acquiring middle market companies in the defense, aerospace and maritime industries.
The second firm was Wayzata Investment Partners whose focus is the alternative investment market that targets opportunities in undervalued debt, equity and assets. Chris recently led the growth and subsequent divestment of three business units to different strategic customers. As CEO, he is currently leading the post transaction transition process from private equity ownership to a publically traded Japanese firm.
Prior to working for Special Devices, Chris held a variety of executive leadership and Board positions at international companies in differing industries. Chris has an undergraduate degree in Applied Science and Engineering, an MBA and has attended a number of Executive Educations programs.
After living and working at the executive level in multiple countries, Chris brings a unique perspective to the needs of both global multinational publicly traded and private equity owned businesses. He has hands-on experience with the rewards and challenges associated with working within multiple types of ownership structures.
Chris has extensive board experience ranging from international for profit firms to local not for profit organizations. Chris is the current President of the Harvard Business School Club of Arizona and holds Director Positions at Playworks and Special Devices. Chris enjoys hiking, Pilates and playing golf on the weekends with his family.
